FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How much are conference tickets?

General delegate tickets start at $195 per person for early bird virtual access, including 2 full days of conference sessions and delegate swag bag.

Health practitioner tickets start at $355 per person for early bird virtual access, including 3 full days of conference sessions and delegate swag bag.

When are early bird tickets available?

Discounted early bird tickets will be on sale from December 2024, until April 2025, unless sold out earlier.

Do you have a concession ticket available?

We strive to make the conference as affordable as possible for all attendees, and as such, there isn't a further discounted concession ticket available.  Please take advantage of early bird tickets to obtain the best available pricing.

Can I bring my partner or carer?

You absolutely can!  If your partner or carer would like to join you for conference sessions there is a ticket option for "accompanying carer", which provides for their 2 days of on-site costs.

Why do we have to pay for the conference - why can’t it be free?

In a perfect world, we would LOVE to be able to offer tickets to our patient delegates at no cost - it's certainly something we are aiming for in the future, as we understand first hand just how expensive lipoedema is to manage!

Hosting an in person and virtual conference comes with significant costs that must be covered - if we are able to obtain additional sponsorship, this will enable us to reduce participant costs.

How much is the accommodation?

Hotel Realm and it's affiliated hotels (Burbury Hotel & Little National Hotel) have a range of accommodation options with special pricing available for conference delegates.

Costs range from $210 to $300 per room per night.

Do I have to watch the sessions live, or are they available to play back?

All sessions are both live streamed for virtual delegates, and recorded for on-demand viewing by all delegates.

How long do I have to watch the sessions after the conference?

Sessions are available to view on-demand for 90 days after the conference.

I can only come in person on one day but want to watch virtually for the rest or replay them later - how can I buy a mixed ticket?

If you'd like to attend any of the days in person, the best option is to purchase a full weekend in-person ticket.  You can then watch the other sessions in your ticket category virtually as required, or view on-demand.

Can I buy a virtual conference ticket but still come to the gala dinner?

If you're in Canberra and need to participate in conference sessions virtually, but can join us in person on the Saturday night Gala Dinner,  you're most welcome to purchase a ticket!

What times are conference sessions on each day?

This will be confirmed once the agenda has been completed, but expect sessions to begin around 8.30am and finish around 5pm each day.

Do I have to attend all the sessions?

You don't need to attend all sessions at the time if something comes up.  All sessions are recorded so you can come back to watch on demand as required.

This also means that you aren't missing out on topics during concurrent sessions!

If I need to take a break for a while, is that okay?

Of course - please ensure you take care of yourself and hold space for what can often be an overwhelming and overstimulating few days!

In person delegates can take advantage of a chill out zone to reset before joining the group for the next session.

How many people will be at the conference?

The 2025 Lipoedema Australia Conference will host a maximum of 200 delegates.

What is the dress code for the conference sessions?

Be comfortable!  Dress in a way that makes you happy, knowing that you will be sitting for a lot of the day.

What is the dress code for the gala dinner?

Dress fabulously - whatever that may mean for you!  We'll share more on the theme for the gala dinner as we get closer to the event.

How far is the venue from the airport?

Hotel Realm is 7km from Canberra Airport (CBR) - allow 15 minutes for the journey.

Does the hotel do airport transfers?

Hotel Realm doesn't offer airport transfers, however there are taxi and rideshare options outside airport arrivals.

Is there car parking at the venue?

Yes, there is underground parking at Hotel Realm, Little National Hotel, and Burbury Hotel.  Fees apply during the week.

Does the hotel have a pool?

Yes!  Hotel Realm has a lap pool and this is available for use to all hotel guests staying at Hotel Realm, Little National Hotel, and Burbury Hotel.

Are there other places to stay nearby?

There are a number of other hotels in the Parliamentary Triangle area, and further afield in the surrounding suburbs.

Can I just come to the gala dinner without attending the conference?

You sure can!  We understand that you may not have the time available to spend the whole weekend with your lipoedema community, but we'd love to have you join us for dinner on Saturday night!

I need to change my registration type - how can I do this?

Please email the conference team at laconference@lipoedema.com.au so that we can assist.

I can’t come to the conference anymore - how do I cancel my registration?

Please email the conference team at laconference@lipoedema.com.au so that we can assist.

Am I able to sponsor the conference?

Absolutely!  Please take a look at the Sponsorship page to download the prospectus and request a sponsorship package via the portal.

How can I be part of the fashion parade?

We would LOVE you to model at the 2025 Lipoedema Australia Conference FASHION PARADE!

Please ensure you register your interest in being a model when you are booking your in-person ticket.

If you have forgotten to do this, missed the section or want to change your response, please get in touch with us at laconference@lipoedema.org.au

Do you need any volunteers?

Honestly, at this stage, we're not sure!  We'll keep you posted as we get closer to the event.

I have special dietary needs - can these be catered for?

Absolutely!  We know how important it is to manage your nutrition as part of your conservative treatment for lipoedema.

We've included a range of the most common dietary requirements for you to select during your registration - if you have a special need that isn't included, please provide that information so that we can let the venue know.

I have accessibility requirements - can these be catered for?

Most certainly... please either select from the pre-determined list that we've put together during registration - and if you have needs that we haven't included in the drop down, please let us know so that we can ensure your requirements are met!

Will there be somewhere for me to sit and eat lunch?

For those who find standing at lunch is challenging, the Hotel Realm team have advised that we are able to utilise some of their dining space for delegates to take a seat and have their lunch.

The on site team will direct you to these areas.

Is there natural light and fresh air easily accessible around the conference rooms?

There absolutely is!  Hotel Realm's ballrooms are beautifully light filled, and have direct access to terrace areas so that delegates and exhibitors can step outside and get a breath of fresh air without having to roam too far from the action!

I’m uncertain about coming on my own as I won’t know anyone there - do many people go by themselves?

Attending an event like this solo can seem really daunting, but please be reassured that you won't ever be alone (unless you want to be!)

We understand the anxiety and social awkwardness that can come when you arrive - feel free to come up to the Lipoedema Australia team when you arrive, and we can help introduce you to others who are in the same boat!

So many of our delegates have made life long friends at the conference - starting off solo, and bonding over shared experience and compassion.
